Wow, it’s been over a year since I last posted on this blog…
So much has happened. I graduated college and will be moving to start my graduate school program in the fall!
I haven’t done a ton of art, but here’s one that I finished last week, done with Copics. I actually started working on it in 2019, I think, but stopped because I didn’t like how the fish on the left was going. I think I managed to salvage it though!
I actually sketched this tree around a year ago. I remember that we had just moved (for my college!). I sketched this tree while sitting on the porch of our new house. A lot of our stuff hadn’t yet arrived from Singapore, so I drew this on printing paper with a pen that was available. But it turned out quite well!
It’s kind of funny to think that I drew this before I had started college, and now I’m a second-year student…
Now that it’s finally summer break, I can get to painting the things I’d wanted to (look out for those posts in the future!) and also actually post things on this poorly abandoned blog! I’d managed to do some gesture drawing during winter break and on the weekends, so here’s a little collection of them:
I tried coloring the first pen drawing of a bird that I posted around two weeks ago with watercolor. I really liked how it turned out! Adding color really made it much more dynamic, in a way. Here it is:
Since this is one of my first (successful) pieces with watercolor and pen (the ones that I previously did were so bad and childish that I left them uncompleted), I would really appreciate comments 🙂
I found that I really enjoyed drawing in pen, so I tried sketching a bit more by myself. Since I’d started with drawing birds, I thought I would continue drawing them, so that I could build up my confidence. Here are the two sketches that I did:
My art teacher (who is absolutely fantastic) told me that I have an illustration style – which I agree with completely – and that I should try pen drawings. This is the first one I did, which I did with her help and guidance.
I’m extremely happy with it! I’m doing a couple of sketches by myself, and will keep you posted about my progress.
