Christmastime is here…

Merry Christmas to everyone around the world and a ho-ho-ho to you! It is finally Christmas Eve! Are you waiting for Pere Noel, Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, all known as the one and only Santa Claus?! I am! Although Santa Claus is a very well known figure, not many of us know how the tradition really started. So, here’s a little story of one of Santa Claus’s good deeds:

In the old days, when a girl married, the bride’s family had to pay a dowry to the groom. Three poor girls didn’t have that money, and so were about to be sold to slavery. However, one day, three mysterious bags of gold appeared in their house, therefore saving them. It is said that Saint Nicholas threw the bags into the house from an open window, which then landed in the socks which were left to dry. Which caused the tradition of children’s stockings! How neat! Well, the girls lived happily ever after, the end.

Enjoy this picture of a nutcracker that I drew!

Merry Christmas!

About The Empty Notebook

I'm a hopeful illustrator who wishes to change the world through art. I suppose, though, that I'll have to start simple - one sketch at a time.
