Last Sunday, I went kite-flying. The wind blew steadily and strongly, the temperature was nice and cool; the conditions were perfect. I got my kite, put Daisy on a leash and went to a park. Amazingly, lots of other kites were there too. So many that at first I thought it was some sort of convention or competition. One person had five identical kites (all different colors, though) that were in a sort of dance: if one moved, the other four followed. Mine went up easily and it was – in my opinion – a sort of centerpiece in the sky.
Twice, other kites got tangled in mine and it was hard to pull mine to safety. My dad told me that, when he was young, the kids would have a competition to see who could cut the other person’s string. Some cheated and put sharp glass on the string of their kites to cut the opponent’s string easily. I think it would have been a fierce but fun battle.
Kite-flying, I think, is a very fun thing to do. It can be a nice way to relax and have fun at the same time! You can watch your own kite fly in the air and it is very satisfying. We should all do it once in a while.
